Zhao Jinxiang Holds talks with Mike Madiro, Chairman of National Railways of Zimbabwe(NRZ)

On September 5, Zhao Jinxiang, President of CRIG, held talks with Mike Madiro, Chairman of  National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ), at the company's headquarters. The two sides had in-depth exchanges and reached broad consensus on strengthening comprehensive cooperation and implementing key projects’ plans.

Zhao Jinxiang congratulated Zimbabwean President Mnangagwa on his successful visit to China, and thanked Chairman Mike Madiro and the delegation for their support in the early stages of key projects. He said that on September 3, the heads of China and Zimbabwe unanimously decided to further deepen and enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership and build a high-level community of shared future. This has opened a new chapter in China-Zimbabwe cooperation and provided new opportunities for further deepening cooperation between enterprises and the Zimbabwean government. CREC’s CEO Chen Wenjian paid a visit to President Mnangagwa and reached a consensus on the promotion of key projects, which pointed out the direction for the next step of pragmatic and mutually beneficial cooperation. CRIG will give full play to the advantages of its entire industrial chain, strengthen communication and coordination with the NRZ and relevant institutions, and develop new business models. At the same time, it will promote the key projects and contribute CREC's wisdom and solutions to the economic and social development and people's livelihood of Zimbabwe.

Chairman Mike Madiro expressed his gratitude to CRIG for inviting the delegation to visit CREC during the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. He expressed his admiration for CREC's outstanding engineering technology, supporting resources and development performance in railway and urban rail transit construction. He said that in the early stage of the key projects, the two sides worked in the same direction, coordinated efficiently and achieved milestone goals. In the next step, the two sides will actively implement the principles of the joint statement of the two countries and the important consensus reached by President Mnangagwa and CEO Chen Wenjian, strengthen docking and in-depth communication, promote key projects to achieve expected results, and jointly promote the fruitful results of China-Zimbabwe practical cooperation.

Before the talks, Chairman Mike Madiro and the government delegation visited the CREC’s “Trailblazer” Cultural Exhibition Hall.
